Man flees from police in Moline and is later arrested in Davenport

The Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office said 44-year-old Joshua Lee Ross fled from officers and crossed the border into Iowa before being arrested.

ROCK ISLAND COUNTY, Illinois — A man was arrested after a police chase in two states, officials said.

On Tuesday, June 11, the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office learned of a suspected domestic incident after responding to a local hospital where the victim suffered severe internal injuries. Officers identified 44-year-old Joshua Lee Ross as the suspect.

Investigators said they learned Ross was in possession of the victim’s vehicle, which was later found in Moline. Officials did not provide information on when this happened.

Officials with the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office and Moline Police Department attempted to locate Ross. Officials said he left a hotel and fled by vehicle on I-74 toward Iowa. The Sheriff’s Office, Bettendorf Police, Davenport Police and Iowa State Patrol pursued Ross. He was eventually arrested near Fourth Street East and Marquette Avenue by Davenport Police.

It is unclear when the events occurred, as the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office did not provide a timeline. News 8 has requested clarification and is awaiting a response.

Officials say Ross is being held in the Scott County Jail for violating his probation pending further charges filed by law enforcement in Scott and Rock Island counties.

The incident remains under investigation by the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office.
