Students arrested for assault and robbery in Santa Rosa – NBC Bay Area

Santa Rosa police said officers arrested two students last week for alleged assault and robbery on a high school campus.

Santa Rosa police said their officers were contacted by an administrator at Elsie Allen High School around 3:05 p.m. on Friday. The school official reported that around noon that day, a student was “ambushed” in a restroom by two other students, one of whom stole the victim’s belt during the attack.

According to police, the administrator also received a video of the attack, which had been sent to him anonymously via the “STOPit” app.

Police learned that the victim, a 16-year-old boy, was taken to a hospital by his parents to be treated for pain and minor facial injuries. With the help of school officials, the suspects were identified as two 17-year-old students.

Police said they had received information that the attack may have been linked to a gang.

On Monday, police executed search warrants for the suspects’ homes in the 100 block of Gio Drive and the 100 block of Bellevue Avenue, both in Santa Rosa. At both homes, officers allegedly found clothing and other insignia associated with criminal street gangs.

Police said the suspect, who lives on Gio Drive, was present when the search warrant was executed and was arrested without incident. The suspect, who lives on Bellevue Avenue, was not present when the search warrant was executed but was contacted by detectives a short time later when he returned home. He was also arrested without incident.

Both suspects were placed in a youth detention center. They were charged with aggravated robbery, assault, participation in a criminal street gang and promoting/supporting a criminal street gang.

Because of their age, police have not released the names or other identifying information about the victim and suspects.
