Razor blade in Qdoba burrito; restaurant license revoked for 10 days

A Qdoba restaurant in Milwaukee will remain closed for 10 days after its license was revoked, a measure taken after a customer in 2023 said he bit into a razor blade in his burrito.

The customer said he found the blade in his burrito, which he purchased at Qdoba on Brady Street last Halloween.

“I bit into something hard and I wondered what that was?” said Qdoba customer Scott Siewart. “Thank God it was flat, it didn’t move up and down when I bit into the thing and it landed between my molars.”

Eight months later, this incident led to temporary closure.

The Milwaukee City Council voted to revoke the restaurant’s license on Tuesday, June 11.

According to a police report, the blade found in the burrito belonged to one of Qdoba’s safety cutting tools, which was in poor condition. Upon investigation, it was found that the blade slipped out of the tool and ended up in the food.

Siewart said he was happy about the suspension.

“If I had swallowed the razor blade, there would have been great internal damage to my body,” said Siewart.

“This was an unfortunate incident that we took seriously,” said Ron Stokes, president of Roaring Fork Restaurant Group.

Stokes argued against the decision before the city council.

“Closing this business for 10 days really does irreparable damage to our reputation,” Stokes said.

“I will never go to another Qdoba again, I promise you. Never,” Siewart said.

FOX6 News was told that Qdoba now uses scissors for cutting.

A Milwaukee city councilor told FOX6 News the reason for the long suspension is because the city must renew licenses annually. The city council made the decision around the time the restaurant’s license was due to be renewed.

FOX6 News reached out to Stokes on Wednesday. We have not received a response.
