CLEVELAND (WJW) – Services at Cleveland City Hall will be unavailable to the public through Friday as crews are still investigating a “cyber incident.”

Officials provided an update on the investigation Wednesday evening, saying IT teams had contained the threat and were continuing to work to bring city systems back online.

As the FOX 8 I-Team reported, city officials were forced to close offices and block network access to city systems out of an abundance of caution after “anomalies” were detected on Saturday.

Cleveland City Hall reopened on Wednesday, but officials said “our technology systems encountered some expected challenges.”

“It was necessary to have staff in the building to understand what systems were working, test applications, and determine which systems needed further diagnosis,” city officials said in the release. “Bringing staff back to City Hall to test accessibility and connectivity is an important part of restoring systems and we are encouraged by our progress. Through this process, we understand that not all departments are fully functional.”

While City Hall will be open to employees, services will be closed to the public on Thursday and Friday, the city announced on X.

Cleveland residents are urged to use the city’s online services or call 311 with further questions.

Mayor Justin Bibb spoke out Monday and said the “cyber incident” had no impact on emergency services such as police, fire and ambulance. The city’s municipal courts were also unaffected.
