Police arrest two men for breaking into Oakland County elementary school

OAKLAND COUNTY, Michigan. – Two men were arrested for breaking into an Oakland County elementary school.

The incident occurred Monday (June 3) at Roosevelt Elementary School in the 2065 block of Cass Lake Road, when several witnesses notified Keego Harbor police of the break-in.

Police officers quickly established a perimeter around the area, entered the fenced area and spotted the two men fleeing in different directions from the east side of the building.

Officials said one of the men climbed over the fence and was arrested by an Orchard Lake Police officer.

In perfect coordination, West Bloomfield Police deployed their drone and tracked down the location of the second suspect. He was found hiding in a nearby bush and immediately arrested.

Officials said the school’s fire alarm went off and the West Bloomfield Fire Department arrived at the scene.

After entry, it was discovered that a fire had been set in a locker on the third floor. However, thanks to the quick response of the West Bloomfield Fire Department, the fire was immediately extinguished with minimal damage.

According to police, the two 20-year-old men broke in through a window on the lower floor using burglary tools.

Further investigation revealed that only two people were involved and that the crime appeared to be a random incident unrelated to the controversy surrounding the vacant building, so the public was reassured that the two people were safe.

One of the 20-year-olds lives in West Bloomfield Township, while the other man is from Pontiac.

Both men were taken to the Oakland County Jail and charged with trespassing, breaking and entering, resisting arrest and obstructing public order.
