Homeless man found shot near Las Vegas Arts District, suspect at large

Authorities are searching for a suspect after a homeless man was found fatally shot near the Las Vegas Arts District on Wednesday morning.

The incident was reported around 4:30 a.m. in the area of ​​6th Street and Hoover Avenue, near Charleston and Las Vegas boulevards, Lt. Jason Johansson of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

Officers found a man believed to be in his 60s with a gunshot wound. Medical staff pronounced him dead at the scene.

The only other information police have gathered is that a white male was seen leaving the area wearing a light-colored shirt and blue jeans shortly after someone heard gunshots. He added that it was unclear whether the person was a suspect, a witness or someone else.

“Luckily there is quite a bit of CCTV in the area. “So once we have a chance to see everything, we will probably have a better idea of ​​what happened last night,” Johansson said.

The victim was known to be in the area frequently and was transient, he added.

The police are still blocking 6th Street. The nearby Mexican Consulate is accessible via 7th Street.
