Construction worker dies after collision with car in Hartford – NBC Connecticut

Police say a construction worker died after a vehicle drove through a construction site in Hartford and hit him Wednesday afternoon.

They said the driver struck the construction worker around 12:12 p.m. in the area of ​​West Boulevard and South Whitney Street and also struck some equipment and a dump truck.

The crew had dug a trench in the road and a traffic policeman was on site to direct traffic.

As the police announced on Wednesday afternoon, a driver drove at high speed directly through the construction site and hit the victim. The worker, a man in his fifties, died at the scene of the accident.

According to the police, the vehicle was not drivable after the accident and came to a stop. They are currently speaking to the driver.

Two other passengers were also in the vehicle and were taken to hospital. Police said their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

The police have not yet been able to establish the identity of the deceased man. However, they assume that he was employed by a private company that worked for MDC.
