Therapist charged with sexually abusing San Jose girl

Police say a man who works as a behavioral therapist and school aide assaulted a girl during several therapy sessions.

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA – A behavior therapist and school aide is accused of sexually abusing an underage girl during a session at her San Jose home, police said.

In a press release, the police department said it received a report Saturday of a sexual assault that occurred the previous day. According to police, the girl stated that her therapist assaulted her, and the agency’s Internet Crimes Against Children/Child Exploitation Task Force launched a thorough investigation.

Police identified the suspect Wednesday as Alejandro Lopez Nunez, who was employed as a behavioral therapist at Trumpet Behavioral Health and worked part-time as a teaching assistant at Forest Hill Elementary School.

The task force claimed it found evidence that Lopez Nunez had assaulted the girl multiple times since March.

He was arrested in Santa Clara on Sunday and booked into jail on suspicion of sexual abuse of a minor. Because of his work as a “confidential person,” investigators believe there may be additional victims in the case. Anyone with information can contact investigators at 408-277-4102.
