Buffalo Police Arrest Daycare Director For Child Endangerment

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Kensington Avenue day care worker was arrested and charged Tuesday by Buffalo police with endangering the welfare of a child.

Around noon, officers responded to a call to the daycare in the 300 block of Kensington Avenue, where a 17-year-old female had gotten into a verbal altercation with the daycare director. During the altercation, it was mentioned that the 17-year-old felt the director might have harmed a child.

The 17-year-old was physically pushed out of class in front of the children.

Daycare director Mary Goodwill, 52, of Tonawanda, was charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of second-degree harassment.

Since then, more parents have spoken out on social media about these allegations, and Erie County Child Protective Services and the Office of Children and Family Services New York State visited to investigate the parents’ allegations. The daycare has voluntarily closed its doors for the week while the investigation continues.

The Buffalo Police Department’s Special Victims Unit is also investigating.
