SIPTU National Advocacy Service members suspend strike in Wicklow

SIPTU members employed by the National Advocacy Service have suspended their strike after taking part in picketing in Bray this afternoon demanding a pay rise.

The company management has agreed to fully implement the recommendation of a labor court regarding the pay and working conditions of its employees.

The service represents people with disabilities across Wicklow.

On this topic, Councillor Caroline Winstanley said: “NAS is an important service that informs people of their rights and gives them a voice in situations where there may be disagreement. This service will be at risk if staff are not paid a fair wage that reflects the rising cost of living. Staff are not being paid enough and it will become increasingly difficult to retain them. This will result in some of the most vulnerable people in our society becoming even more isolated.”
