2 adults and 2 children dead after apparent murder-suicide in La Junta

(LA JUNTA, Colorado) – The La Junta Police Department and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are investigating a suspected murder-suicide involving two adults and two children.

Late in the evening of June 11, 2024, police were called to the 1100 block of Smithland Avenue in La Junta. When officers arrived, they found two adults and two children shot to death at the scene inside the home. The two adults and one of the children were dead, and the second child was taken to a Denver-area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.


Few details have been released, but police say initial information indicates this was not a random incident and that the people involved knew each other. Anyone with information is asked to call La Junta police at (719) 384-2535.
