Teenager wanted for Chili Avenue shooting arrested

ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) — A juvenile suspect wanted in connection with a shooting last month was arrested on Melville Street.

Rochester police said they were looking for the 17-year-old after he allegedly shot at an occupied car on Chili Avenue in May and had an active arrest warrant for fleeing.


Officers said they found him in the 300 block of Melville Street with a loaded handgun. The gun was reported stolen in a carjacking on Sunday.

The suspect is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. He also faces additional charges of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment in connection with the May shooting.

The suspect was taken to Monroe County Children’s Center.
