A 28-year-old Bay City man has died from gunshot wounds and police are seeking information

The gunshot death of a 28-year-old Bay City man has prompted the Bay City Department of Public Safety to seek further information.

An autopsy is scheduled for this week to determine the cause of death of victim Simeon Berry.

On Tuesday around 8:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of McKinley Avenue and N. Jefferson Street to check for gunshot wounds. They found the man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was in an open field in the 500 block of N. Jefferson with life-threatening injuries. The victim was treated and later died.

According to police, two black male suspects were observed leaving the area after allegedly getting into a silver SUV. Officers found evidence at the scene and the investigation is currently ongoing.

Officers were assisted by Michigan State Police, who were in the area shortly before the incident. This does not appear to be a random incident and there is no immediate threat to the public.

In that incident, a bullet struck an electrical box and damaged some of the internal components. Electricians had to temporarily shut off power to the area to repair the damage.
