Son of Houston Astros legend traded to Los Angeles Dodgers

Players struggle in Major League Baseball for different reasons, something the Houston Astros are currently facing with a few of their high profile players.

Sometimes what you need to get back on track is a change of scenery.

The Astros were hoping Jose Abreu would spend some time in Florida to help him figure some things out and get back to being someone who even remotely looked like he had won an MVP award in the past. We’ll see how this plays out.

Ryan Pressly doesn’t have the luxury of time off in the midst of his struggles.

He’s too big a part of their bullpen and will need to work through his issues during games, unless it gets so bad that Houston does the unthinkable and trades him.

But that’s what happened to the son of one of the Astros legends.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported that the Toronto Blue Jays sent Cavan Biggio to the National League powerhouse Los Angeles Dodgers after designating him for assignment last week. He’s struggled this season relative to his career numbers, but as a superutility guy who can play multiple positions on defense, he should help their team improve.

With him seemingly available, Houston was considered a landing spot, especially considering the issues they have at first base.

We don’t know yet if they were actually interested in this approach, but if they were, they need to go back to the drawing board.

This has been an interesting year for the Astros, as they are completely different from the teams that have dominated Major League Baseball over the past seven seasons. Their front office continues to be stubborn about the possibility of having to sell parts.

This means they will likely be buyers again before the deadline.
