Houston City Council to vote on firefighters’ collective bargaining agreement

HOUSTON – Today could be a historic day, years awaiting results from the Houston City Council regarding the collective bargaining agreement with the Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association.

The vote was initially pushed after City Comptroller Chris Hollins asked additional questions regarding the bylaw. Those questions were answered in an emailed document shared by the mayor’s office.

Achieving this settlement was one of Mayor John Whitmire’s campaign promises, where he pledged to ensure better working conditions and fair pay for HFD members, and this agreement appears to deliver on that promise.
