DUI investigation underway after Mesa crash: PD

MESA, Arizona. – An accident in Mesa led to the temporary closure of a road during the night.

The crash occurred near Dobson Road and Broadway. Mesa police said the driver of a Chevrolet ran a red light and collided with a Toyota around 12:30 a.m. The Chevrolet spun out and struck several objects before coming to a stop in a parking lot.

“The driver of the (Chevrolet) was taken to hospital with minor facial injuries,” a police statement said. “There were three passengers in the (Chevrolet); one was taken to hospital with possible serious injuries, while the other two sustained minor injuries.”

Meanwhile, police said the driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

“Investigators are conducting a drunk driving investigation as there is evidence that the driver of the (Chevrolet) may have been impaired,” the statement said.

The investigation is ongoing.
