First weather warning day for the second day of the heat warning

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — It’s a First Alert Weather Day with a continued heat warning for the Arizona deserts. Temperatures in the Valley will peak near 40 degrees today under sunny skies. That’s well above the normal or average high of 40 degrees in the Valley for this time of year and just one degree below today’s record high of 45 degrees.

Temperatures will rise again to 45 degrees tomorrow, another day of the first warning. The heat warning expires on Thursday at 8 p.m.

Strong high pressure will be replaced by an approaching low pressure system that could bring some light showers and isolated thunderstorms late Thursday and Friday. This will mainly affect the higher elevations, while the valleys will see a few drops at most. Where thunderstorms develop, dry lightning and gusty winds will be the main concerns.

Temperatures will begin to rise again over the weekend as high pressure returns to the region. Highs between 112 and 113 are expected on Saturday and Sunday. Both days are First Alert Weather Days.
