Austell’s wife gets her first home thanks to the Atlanta Braves

Quintasha Swanson, executive assistant to the Austell Police Chief, was surprised Tuesday by the news that she would be getting her first home.

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves Foundation and Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Metro Atlanta surprised the Austell police chief’s executive assistant Tuesday with the news that she would be receiving her own home.

Quintasha Swanson was informed Tuesday that the house would be built by Habitat for Humanity volunteers and members of the Atlanta Braves front office staff.

Following the announcement of the foundation and Habitat for Humanity chapter, a celebration was held, featuring a performance by the Atlanta Braves Heavy Hitters and remarks from the organization’s leaders. Additionally, Austell Police Chief Orrin Scott Hamilton and Town of Austell Mayor Ollie Clemmons attended the event to congratulate Swanson.

“We are here to support you. We love you,” Clemmons said. “We want to celebrate you. We want to make sure you know that you are Austell. As has been said, you will be able to live, work and play right here in Austell. »

Swanson will be the first in her family to own a home. According to the Braves press release, she is excited to share it with her adopted daughter, Angel, and leave her a legacy.

“I’m so excited about it. I applied to Habitat (for Humanity) about a year ago and I just trusted this process, waited patiently and now it’s on the way to happen,” Swanson said.

Construction of the Swanson home begins in July and a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held when it is completed in late September.
