Shooting leaves one dead in Wentzville on Tuesday evening

Police said they were still searching Wednesday for the suspect who fled the fatal shooting on Hidden Valley Drive.

WENTZVILLE, Missouri – A suspect was still at large Wednesday morning after a fatal shooting in Wentzville.

According to Wentzville police, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1300 block of Hidden Valley Drive, off Wentzville Parkway, around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene, police said. One person was contacted at the scene and cooperated with officers.

Police began searching the area for a suspect, a man with dreadlocks wearing a gray t-shirt and black gym shorts who fled the scene before police arrived.

Wentzville Police Sergeant Jacob Schmidt said the suspect was still out of custody Wednesday morning.

Police urged the public to be cautious if they see anyone matching the suspect’s description and not to approach him. Instead, call Wentzville police at 636-327-5105 or 911.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that helps people recover from a gunshot injury. The BRIC was created to help people being discharged from the emergency room after a gunshot injury.
