It will get hotter as the week progresses, and the probability of rain will increase by Sunday

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Today’s forecast: No major weather changes are expected today as a weak front remains along the coast. This boundary should serve as the main focus for showers and thunderstorms, with the chance of rain being quite low inland.

The hot summer is coming

A high pressure system moving in from the west will lead to increasing heat concerns towards the end of the week. Highs are expected to rise above 35 degrees by Friday and Saturday, with heat index values potentially reaching 40 degrees or more. With that in mind, I wouldn’t rule out a heat warning on one or both days, at least for parts of our area.

Chance of rain returns

A pattern change is expected from Sunday into early next week as the high pressure dome moves quickly eastward. Tropical moisture moving clockwise around the high will flow north and northwest toward parts of the Gulf Coast. However, some uncertainty remains as to whether the deepest moisture will affect our area or remain a little further west.

Regardless of the exact location of this cloud of moisture, there is a 50 to 60 percent chance of rain from Sunday through early next week. This should help keep highs closer to normal at 30 to 35 degrees Celsius.
