Monkey Run Natural Area reopened after incident with rabid coyote

Monkey Run Natural Area reopened a week after being closed due to a sighting of a possibly rabid coyote.

The closure came after the Tompkins County Whole Health Environmental Health Division reported several coyote attacks on people and dogs in the area. The coyote had approached a person walking a dog last Monday evening, which sparked the initial concern.

Managed by the Cornell Botanic Gardens, the Monkey Run Natural Area stretches from Hanshaw Road to Route 366 east of Ithaca and the Cornell campus and is now safely reopened to the public.
