Showdown in MC house over Joshi’s suspension | Chandigarh News

CHANDIGARH: Stormy scenes erupted during the monthly general meeting of the MC on Tuesday. Mayor Kuldeep Kumar suspended BJP councillor Saurabh Joshi following a dispute over an agenda item related to waste management.

After Joshi’s suspension, all BJP members and nominated councillors left the assembly hall and boycotted the meeting.

Mayor Kuldeep Kumar also suspended Councillor Joshi from the next two sessions of the MC General House, claiming that the language used by Joshi towards the chairman was unparliamentary and his behaviour was unacceptable.

Outside the assembly hall, BJP councillors could be heard hurling disrespectful abuse at the mayor, saying, “Tu chala le house.”

Nominated councillors, who openly supported the BJP councillors, also engaged in a verbal exchange with the mayor and the AAP and Congress councillors while leaving the assembly hall. The heated exchanges between the BJP and AAP councillors continued for a long time.
