ATV accident in Lake County – child injured, driver dead

On June 8, 2024, at approximately 9:08 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers
Clear Lake Area, responded to a report of a solo collision on Bartlett Springs Road, north of
High Valley Road in Lucerne, with a Can-Am Outlander ATV 2023. A preliminary
Investigation revealed that the ATV was traveling on Bartlett Springs Road north of High.
Valley Road, at an unknown speed. For reasons pending further investigation, the driver of the
The ATV failed to safely negotiate a curve in the roadway and caused the ATV to
east side of Bartlett Springs Road. The ATV drove over a sloping embankment
and overturned. The driver and the young passenger were subsequently rescued from the
ATV before the ATV came to a stop upside down.

After the collision, the young passenger, although injured, was able to get out of the car on foot.

and called 9-1-1. The teenager was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Santa Rosa to
his injuries.

California Highway Patrol and Northshore Fire Protection responders
The district located the accident scene and found the overturned SUV and the driver.
The adult male driver, whose identity will be kept secret until next of kin are notified,
was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Department and All In One Towing also arrived at the scene and assisted the California Highway Patrol.

Both the driver and the teenage passenger were wearing helmets at the time of the collision.
The collision is being investigated by CHP Officer V. Farias-Diaz.
