Cause of Friday’s Yakima Ridge fire still under investigation | Local

The Yakima Ridge fire on Friday burned over 400 hectares of bushland.

The cause of the June 7 fire is still under investigation, said Lt. Jason Wood of the Selah Fire Department, who was in command at the scene.

“Selah is grateful to our partners for helping us with such a timely and thorough response,” Wood said.

Responding agencies included the Department of Natural Resources, Naches, Gleed, Yakima, East Valley, Ahtanum and the Office of Emergency Management. A U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter from the Yakima Training Center and two DNR helicopters also responded to the scene and dropped buckets on the fire.

The fire was reported at 10:47 a.m. and was brought under control by firefighters by 3:30 p.m. No damage was reported to homes or buildings on the ridge.
