Vice President Sara remains silent on rumors about Baste’s suspension

VICE PRESIDENT Sara Duterte claimed she had no information about the Marcos administration’s alleged plan to suspend his brother, Mayor Sebastian Duterte, and Vice Mayor J. Melchor Quitain.

In an interview on the sidelines of the Independence Day commemoration at Rizal Park on Wednesday, Sara said: “Wala ko nahibal an na information about s suspension no Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte. Kung Duna Man Ingon Ana Nga Papel or document no suspension, Hula Hoop Carpet (I have no information on the suspension of Mayor Sebastian Duterte. If there is any paper or document regarding the suspension, I will wait for it.)”

“Let us wait kung our mga legal action no Mayor Baste,” she added.

Recently, Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr. dismissed speculations about an impending suspension of Mayor Sebastian Duterte. The secretary visited Tagum City last week to distribute financial aid to farmers and fishermen affected by El Niño.

“As far as the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is concerned, there is no truth to this at this point. These are rumors,” Abalos said.

Abalos also expressed confusion about where former presidential spokesman Harry Roque got his information.

Meanwhile, the mayor downplayed rumors of his dismissal in an interview with reporters on Saturday, June 8, at the Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Sr. Central Elementary School.

“I am here now because I don’t know that there are rumors that I will be removed or suspended. For me, it is just to carry on whatever happens, even if I disappear, because the city is peaceful so far. But it is just rumor that we have to wait and it will come. Then we will just carry on,” Duterte said.

“The important thing is that we are government people. Politics is chaos, the others fight and at the end of the day it is up to them what their method is, I have mine too,” he added.
