Man dies after police shooting in Pacoima

A man is dead after being shot by police in Pacoima on Tuesday.

The circumstances leading to the shooting are still unclear, but according to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were initially called to the area near Carl Street and LeHigh Avenue because of a report of a man with a gun.

At some point after their arrival, an officer called for help and the shooting occurred, police said.

The man, whose identity is unknown, was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Due to the large crowds in the area, the LAPD has requested additional units to assist in the investigation of the case.

The public was advised to avoid the area.
