Rapper Enchanting, former star of 1017 Records, dies at the age of 26

Magicala rapper who was once signed to Gucci Mane‘s 1017 Records, has died at the age of 26.

Mane, 44, confirmed the news on social media on Tuesday, June 11, and paid tribute to his collaborator.

“So sad to say rest in peace to such an amazing young lady, a true star, we will all miss you Chant,” Mane wrote on Instagram under a photo of Enchanting, whose real name is Channing Nicole Larry. The same message was posted hours later on 1017 Records’ Instagram account.

A cause of death was not disclosed. We weekly has contacted an Enchanting representative for further information.

Confirmation of Enchanting’s death sparked a series of tributes on Tuesday, including a repost of 1017 Records’ Instagram post by Jimmy Carl JacksonCEO at Change The Game Music, a management company that apparently signed Enchanting in the last 12 months.

Members of the Chicago music scene also paid tribute to her on social media. “I’m blessed to have witnessed your existence on this earth… Fly high my sister,” wrote one Instagram user, while another added, “I know I love this woman, I was rooting for you.”

Enchanting, who grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, signed with 1017 Records in 2020. Although she confirmed she was a “free agent” in a video posted on TikTok in October 2023, her bio can still be found on 1017 Records’ website, which details that Enchanting’s stage name is the result of “the way her voice swirls around the beat… a perfect description of her ethereal vocals.”

Enchanting began making music at the age of 18 and released a studio mixtape after graduating high school. Her self-defined style was “something chill with a dash of neo-soul, a touch of old school R&B, and some modern trap flair.”

In the website’s bio, Enchanting is quoted as saying, “Staying in the studio and constantly recording helps me find the style that I’m good at… Other people can relate to the things I say. I can help someone in any situation, they can listen to me and find peace.”
