Otti suspends commissioner and orders investigation into misconduct | The Guardian Nigeria News

Abia State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Okey Kanu, yesterday announced the suspension of the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, effective Monday, June 10, 2024.

He said Governor Alex Otti approved the indefinite suspension “to pave the way for an investigation into the allegations of gross misconduct made against the commissioner.”

Kanu explained that Governor Otti’s action was also in line with his zero tolerance policy towards any kind of misconduct and his strict adherence to the principles of transparency and accountability in governance to ensure that the actions of appointees are at all times in the best interests and welfare of the people of Abia.

According to him, the Abia State Government is committed to good governance and the rule of law, which states that a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
