4 people in critical condition in Memphis after shooting; 2 suspects arrested, police say

Memphis Police responded to a call about a shooting at 5:12 p.m. CT.

Memphis police have arrested two people after a shooting Tuesday night left three teenagers and an adult seriously injured, officials said.

Memphis Police responded to a call of a shooting near 240 West and Poplar Avenue at 5:12 p.m. CT.

Four injured people were taken to Baptist East Hospital, where they remain in critical condition, police said.

During the investigation, officers spotted a suspicious vehicle and began a pursuit, officials said. During the chase, an officer was involved in a car crash in the 3500 block of James.

While other officers were still pursuing the suspect’s vehicle, the suspect, whose name was not released, also ended up in an accident.

Police arrested two people after a “brief foot chase” followed the car chase.

The officer involved in the accident was uninjured, Memphis police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
