Norwood police arrest suspect after air rifle incident at local gas station

NORWOOD – Norwood police say a suspect was arrested today following an incident at a Mobil gas station involving the display of a firearm that was later determined to be an air rifle.

The altercation occurred at the gas station in the city center and required a rapid response from local police authorities.

After securing the area, police were able to confirm that the weapon in question was an air rifle and not a real firearm.

Authorities have announced that all officers have now left the scene and thanked the public for their cooperation during the incident.

In another ongoing situation, there is currently a police presence at the intersection of Washington Street and Railroad Ave.

While police have assured that there is no immediate threat to public safety, they are advising residents to avoid the area to allow for ongoing investigations.
