At around 8:30 p.m., Klauke was walking east on 106th South in Sandy and crossed the street at 1300 East. Police told KSL TV that Klauke was struck by a pickup truck at that time.

“The pickup truck was driven by a 64-year-old man who immediately stopped his vehicle, jumped out and returned to the scene of the accident,” said Lt. Dean Carriger of the Sandy Police Department.

Police said the investigation into the case is ongoing and no charges have been filed.

Steve Klauke retired as commentator for the Salt Lake Bees at the end of the 2023 season. At that point, he had commentated for the Bees for 30 years, according to KSL Sports.
