Woman dead after accident on Tuesday afternoon in St. Helena Parish

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (BRPROUD) – Louisiana State Police are investigating after a woman was killed in a car crash in St. Helena Parish Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., police were called to a car crash on Louisiana 43 at Guy Road in St. Helena Parish. Police identified the victim as Tonya Bamber, 54, of Greensburg.

According to LSP, Bamber was driving a 2023 Hyundai Palisade north on Louisiana 43 near Guy Road. Bamber’s car went off the right side of the road and struck a tree before bursting into flames, police said.

According to police, Bamber died at the scene. According to LSP, no restraints or impairments are known.

A routine toxicology sample was taken for testing. This is an ongoing investigation.
