Child rescued after falling into Provo River days after fatal accident

PROVO, Utah — A 13-year-old boy was rescued Tuesday after falling into the Provo River, just days after a Boy of the same age died after falling into the same river.

According to Provo police, the boy with special needs was in Riverside Park when he fell into the river around 4 p.m. A passerby saw the boy, jumped into the water and held the teen until they were both pulled from the river.

After his rescue, the boy was examined by paramedics and handed over to his family.

Over the weekend, 12-year-old Finnley Udall died after falling into the Provo River while hiking with his family near Bridal Veil Falls.

Due to rising water along the river Several crossings along the Provo River Walkway Trail have been closed to ensure pedestrian safetyFour crossings are currently closed: the Geneva Road, Frontrunner and 2230 North underpasses and the Canyon Glen Bridge.

Officials urge residents and visitors to be cautious near waterways considered dangerous.
