Ben Potter, a YouTube star known for his audio dramas based on comic books, has died. He was 40.

The content creator died after “an unfortunate accident” on June 8. his wife, Nathalie Potter, shared on his X account (formerly Twitter).

Potter, known as a comic storyteller to his three million followers, had been part of the YouTube community for over a decade and a fixture in the world of comic book fans on the platform. He regularly discussed the Marvel and DC universes in his over 4,000 posted videos. His wife did not provide any further details about the accident.

“For many of you, he was a comics storyteller who told stories from many different media. For his loved ones, he was one of the best and most helpful people you could wish for,” wrote Nathalie.

“As a husband, son, brother, friend or even just a stranger, Ben was loving and genuine. He was someone who listened and made time for his loved ones. He did his best to make everyone laugh and make sure they were OK. He was our rock and reassured his loved ones whenever they needed it,” she added.

In the post, Nathalie stated that she and a team she works with would continue Potter’s channel in some form after she mourns his death.

“To honor him by continuing to tell great stories of great people and to keep the memory of our very own superhero alive,” she wrote on X. “We supported each other in everything we wanted to do and I don’t plan on stopping now.”

Others who have mourned Potter’s death since the announcement on the platform include rapper and actor Ice Cube’s son, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and comic book writer Scott Snyder.

“I’m still taking a break from Twitter for personal reasons. But after the news I just got, I have to come back and say something,” Jackson wrote. “Rest in peace Comicstorian. Heartbreaking to hear this news. One of my favorite followers on YouTube, thanks for your work man I was a huge fan.”

Snyder wrote: “Totally stunned and deeply saddened to hear this. Benny’s love of comics was infectious and it was great to be around him. My sincere condolences to his family.”
