FORECAST FIRST WARNING: Severe weather possible for Wednesday

While Tuesday’s rain has already given way to sunshine in much of the state, severe weather could creep in for Wednesday afternoon.

A weak cold front will move across the state Tuesday afternoon, with a slight chance of rain in the Twin Cities. This front will move north again overnight and into Wednesday as a warm front. This will likely bring some severe storms to Minnesota Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Two areas are expected to experience severe weather through Wednesday afternoon: central and northern Minnesota and the southwest. When the storms arrive, they could bring large hail, strong winds and isolated tornadoes. That would stretch from Redwood Falls to St. Cloud and from Alexandria to Brainerd.
