Man accused of sexually assaulting 92-year-old woman

Chesterfield County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) – Leon Sykes, Jr. is expected to go before a judge later this month after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a resident of an assisted living facility in Chesterfield.

Sykes was arrested in December 2022 for sexually abusing a 92-year-old resident of the Bickford of Chesterfield assisted living facility. The incident was caught on camera.

Officials with the Chesterfield County Police Department say Sykes worked for the medical device company AdaptHealth. He was handing another patient a mattress cover before entering the victim’s room. He reportedly assaulted the victim by groping her breasts and exposing himself. The victim was asleep when he entered but reportedly woke up during the attack.

Sykes was originally charged with aggravated sexual assault, indecent exposure and criminal trespassing. After a jury trial in February, a sentencing hearing was scheduled for May 21.

At this month’s hearing, Sykes and members of the victim’s family will have the opportunity to make statements before the judge.
