Farm accident in Stearns County: One person has to go to the hospital

GETTY TWP., Minnesota — A man is recovering in the hospital after being trapped by a tractor in Stearns County.

On Saturday, June 8, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man trapped under an overturned tractor in Getty Twp. near Sauk Centre.

At the scene, officers found 51-year-old Eric Bergum of North Branch lying on the ground with serious injuries to his leg.

Witnesses managed to lift the tractor from Bergum using a skid steer loader before rescue workers arrived.

Officers learned that at the time of the incident, Bergum and others were attempting to back a tractor off a trailer when it moved, causing the tractor to tip backwards with Bergum inside.

Bergum is currently at St. Cloud Hospital.
