1 dead, 1 injured after weekend crash on I-74 | WGIL 93.7 FM

One person is dead and another injured in an accident on Interstate 74 in Knox County over the weekend.

Illinois State Police said the accident occurred around 1:15 a.m. Saturday morning near mile marker 41.5, probably near Galesburg.

According to the police, one of the two vehicles involved was already disabled due to the collision with a deer when it was hit from behind by a semi-trailer and pushed onto the central reservation.

Both the driver of the semi-trailer and the driver of the car were injured and taken to the hospital, while the car’s passenger, 36-year-old Pamela Jones of Colorado, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing. State police say they will not release any further information.

The victim was identified by the Knox County Coroner.
