Police suspect third-party negligence in League City mother’s hanging death

League City police are investigating the death of a mother of four who was found hanging last month and believe a foul play may have occurred.

Investigators said they became suspicious because of the unusual position of Giselle Salazar’s body. They said one of her arms was hanging vertically and was not supported.

Investigators believe Giselle died in another location with her arm raised, which then became stiff due to rigor mortis. They suspect she was then taken away from the dock and positioned in a hanging position.

Investigators are still waiting for the coroner to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigators have identified two suspects, but no charges have been filed. League City police have reviewed nearly 2,000 surveillance video clips in their investigation, ranging in length from a few seconds to several minutes.

Who is Giselle Salazar?

Giselle Salazar’s family is still mourning the loss of the 30-year-old mother of four who was found hanged on a dock in League City on June 4, 2024. Giselle had moved to League City in the fall of 2022 to escape an abusive relationship in Colorado, where she had lived for eight years.

Giselle’s family describes her as the most charismatic person you could ever meet. Her brother Nathan Paz, with whom she moved in with her children, said: “She always looked for the best in people.”

Now Nathan and her mother face the challenge of breaking the news to Giselle’s three youngest children before Sunday’s funeral and finding the means to raise her children, ages 10, 8 and 6. Giselle’s oldest child lives with his father.

A GoFundMe page titled “In Loving Memory of Giselle” has been set up to cover funeral expenses and support the care of her children.
