Four people charged with robbery after man claims he was attacked

ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Four people were arrested last weekend after an Odessa man said he was attacked by the group because he was in debt. Herschel Williams, Donyeala Williams, Aubre Ramirez and Jayslon McAfee were all charged with robbery, a second-degree felony.

According to an Odessa Police report, an alleged victim told investigators on June 8 that he received a text message telling him to mow the lawn in the 300 block of Foster. When he got there, he was led into the backyard by a group of five men and two women. Once there, he said, he recognized some people who said he owed them money.

The alleged victim told investigators that the men began hitting him and that the women threw a chemical like weed killer or something similar to pepper spray on him. He said the group then stole his wallet and some of his lawn care equipment.

A short time later, investigators found Herschel and Donyeala loading the stolen items into their car. In an interview with police, investigators said Donyeala admitted to luring the victim to the crime scene, and officers found the man’s phone and wallet in Donyeala’s purse. Further investigation led officers to two more suspects: Ramirez and McAfee, who the victim later identified as being present at the crime scene.

All four suspects were arrested Saturday and booked into the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. Donyeala has since been released on $20,000 bail, while Ramirez has been released on $25,000 bail. Herschel was held on $20,000 bail as of Tuesday morning; McAfee was also held on $25,000 bail as of Tuesday morning.
