Man arrested for multiple break-ins at Dunn Loring home, police say

Fairfax County Police have arrested a Maryland man who allegedly broke into several homes in Dunn Loring.

The 58-year-old man was arrested following a burglary reported around 10:25 a.m. on May 24 in the 7900 block of Tire Swing Road in the Shreve Hill neighborhood, Fairfax County police said in a news release.

“While the victims were inside, they heard and saw the suspect break the basement window,” FCPD said. “The victim confronted the suspect and he fled before officers arrived.”

Officers soon found the man attempting to board a train at the Dunn Loring subway station. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with burglary, two counts of burglary with intent to commit a misdemeanor, and three counts of criminal damage to property.

The man was also served with two arrest warrants from another jurisdiction, the FCPD said.

According to police, investigators have “tentatively” linked the man to three other home burglaries that occurred in the Dunn Loring area in late May:

• May 20: 8200 block of Bucknell Drive
• May 22: 2900 block of Beau Lane
• May 23: 2700 block of Elsmore Street

After initially being held in custody at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, the man was granted supervised release on $2,500 bail following a hearing on May 29, according to the Fairfax County General District Court Clerk’s Office.

The man is also accused of failing to appear in court in Montgomery County, but that county declined to extradite him, the clerk’s office said.
