Maryland man arrested in connection with multiple robberies in Fairfax County

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Virginia (DC News Now) — Fairfax County police said they arrested a man connected to four separate burglaries in the Dunn Loring area.

Police said they were called to a burglary at a building in the 7900 block of Tire Swing Road around 10:30 a.m. on May 24.

Officials said that while the victims were inside the building, they heard and saw the suspect break the basement window.

The victim then confronted the suspect, who then left the scene before the police arrived.

Officers quickly found and arrested 58-year-old William Westray of Maryland as he attempted to board the subway.

Westray was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with burglary, two counts of burglary with intent to commit a misdemeanor, three counts of criminal damage to property, and two other warrants from another jurisdiction.

He was held on bail but has since been released.
