Brain Dead and Adidas to release real bowling shoes in June – Shoe News

Brain Dead and Adidas are collaborating on a bowling shoe, and it’s not just about appropriating the aesthetic.

The Brain Dead x Adidas bowling shoe comes in two variations tailored to a bowler’s dominant hand. The black and white “Righty” colorway features a smooth leather sole on the left foot and a rubber sole with traction and a leather toe on the right foot. This arrangement is then reversed for the “Lefty” pair in white and black. Should you decide to use the bowling shoe for everyday wear rather than its intended sport, Brain Dead recommends either re-soling the shoe or sanding down the leather so it is not too smooth.

The bowling shoe retains the familiar DNA of some classic Adidas sneakers with its simple leather upper with jagged stripes and a mustache in contrasting colors. The two-tone look continues on the tongue, which features an insole that runs the length of the toe to the sole. Although they are relatively unknown, you can find vintage Adidas bowling shoes with the same construction on platforms like eBay.

A special “Adidas Bowling” logo is embossed in gold under the collar of the right shoe, while on the left shoe, “Bowling” is replaced with “Brain Dead.” Brain Dead’s head logo is printed on the left insole and simplified by embossing on both mustaches, while the brand’s name appears on the lace ends.

The Brain Dead x Adidas “Righty” and “Lefty” bowling shoes will be released on Tuesday, June 11th at 1:00 p.m. EST as part of a 24-hour giveaway on the Brain Dead website. The shoes will also be available at the Brain Dead Los Angeles store, as well as Dover Street Market locations in Los Angeles, New York City, and London. Pricing has not yet been announced.
