A soldier of the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) has been found guilty of raping his girlfriend and intentionally infecting her with HIV.

Leon Santos Conga appeared before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where he was found guilty of rape and attempted murder.

The court concluded that Conga had indeed raped his then girlfriend under false pretenses because he had concealed his HIV status from her.
