WATCH: Indiana reporter attacked by exotic bird

FRANKFORT, Ind. (WLFI) – Indiana reporter Vinny Martorano was attacked by an exotic bird while covering the theft of birds from an aviary. The incident was caught on video.

Over the weekend, nine birds were stolen from the aviary in Frankfort. Someone cut a square hole in a net and stole the birds, said Joel Tatum, Frankfort park director.

“These are our animals. It’s so terrible. This aviary has been here for 32 years and this is the first time something like this has happened,” Tatum said.

According to the Frankfort police, the birds are worth around $30,000. In total, 4 macaws, 3 Amazon parrots, a ring-necked parakeet and an African grey parrot were stolen.

“I believe this was theft with the intent to sell the birds and make money. That’s our top priority right now,” said Chief Scott Shoemaker of the FPD.
