Louisiana men arrested for murder

THE ARRESTS ARE RELATED TO A SHOOTING THAT HAPPENED ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 5TH…AROUND 1 PM. THE ST. JOHN PARISH SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS THEY RECEIVED A 9-1-1 CALL ABOUT SOMEONE FIRING A GUN IN A HOME ON BELLE POINT BOULEVARD. WHEN THE RESPONDERS ARRIVED…THEY SAY THEY FOUND 24-YEAR-OLD TYREIK JACKSON SHOT DEAD. EMS TRANSPORTED THE VICTIM TO UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER WHERE HE LATER DIED FROM HIS INJURIES. Investigators say witness statements and camera footage eventually led them to 21-year-old Mehki Collins and 22-year-old Benjamin Jackson. Both have since been charged with school misdemeanor.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Arrests Two Men After Fatal Shooting in LaPlace

The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men in connection with a fatal shooting in LaPlace. The shooting occurred around 12:45 p.m. last Wednesday. Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 1500 block of Belle Point Boulevard. When they arrived, they found a man shot inside a home. The man, identified as Tyreik Jackson, 24, of LaPlace, later succumbed to his injuries at an area hospital. Mehki Collins, 21, and Benjamin Jackson, 22, both of LaPlace, were arrested and charged with first-degree murder. The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men in connection with a fatal shooting in LaPlace.

The shooting occurred last Wednesday around 12:45 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 1500 block of Belle Point Boulevard.

When they arrived, they found a man shot dead in a house.

The man, identified as Tyreik Jackson, 24, of LaPlace, later died of his injuries at a nearby hospital.

Mehki Collins, 21, and Benjamin Jackson, 22, both of LaPlace, were arrested and charged with involvement in first-degree murder.
