Woman hit and killed on I-70 early Tuesday

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Missouri – A woman was struck and killed on Interstate 70 early Tuesday morning, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Cpl. Dallas Thompson said the accident occurred on I-70 eastbound at Interstate 270. The first report of the accident came in around 2:25 a.m.

Thompson said the driver of the car that hit the woman was still at the scene.

Thompson said the highway patrol is still working to notify the woman’s next of kin before releasing her identity. More information will be released in an accident report.

The eastbound lanes were closed while police investigated. The highway was reopened before 5 a.m.
