Minor arrested for sexually abusing his seven-year-old neighbor

A minor has been taken into custody for allegedly sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl in Delhi, police said on Monday. The victim’s grandmother alleged that the 16-year-old neighbour had sexually assaulted the girl at his house in Lodhi Colony. Police have filed a complaint against the boy and investigation is underway.

Police said they received a PCR call about the incident on June 9, following which a team rushed to Meharchand market, where the seven-year-old victim was found with her grandmother. The victim’s grandmother complained to the police about the entire incident, claiming that her neighbour had sexually abused her daughter in his house 3-4 days ago.

“On June 9, PS Lodhi Colony received a PCR call regarding a sexual assault on a minor girl. Police rushed to the scene where the 7-year-old girl, a resident of Meharchand Market, Delhi, was found with her grandmother,” an official said.

Based on the complaint of the victim’s grandmother, the police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Section 376 AB (rape of a woman below 12 years of age) and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The accused, or child in conflict with the law (CCL), was taken into police custody and sent to an observation centre pending investigation into the matter.
