CAAN lifts ban on NAC captain Pant – myRepublica

KATHMANDU, June 11: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the regulator of the country’s aviation sector, has lifted the flight ban on Captain Bhawana Pant of the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC).

On June 3, the CAAN suspended Captain Pant, who flies NAC’s narrow-body aircraft ‘A320-200’, from ‘active duty’ for violating flight safety regulations at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

A complaint was filed against Pant for giving an interview in a sensitive area of the TIA.

However, an investigation into the complaint revealed that Pant had given the interview with the prior consent of the airport management, after which her suspension was lifted, CAAN said.

However, the suspension of NAC Senior Captain Bijay Lama, who was prosecuted along with Pant, remains in place. Lama flies an NAC Airbus A330-200 wide-body aircraft.
