Shock from Uttar Pradesh: Two men arrested for raping and blackmailing underage sisters in Greater Noida

On Monday, June 11, two men were arrested by the Greater Noida police for allegedly raping two minor sisters and extorting Rs 10 lakh from their families by blackmailing them. According to the report, the victims, aged 13 and 15, were allegedly raped by two youths, aged 25 and 23, who hailed from the same village as the survivors.

Police received a complaint from the girls’ father on Sunday, alleging that the accused had made a video of his daughters after raping them, which he later used to extort Rs 10 lakh from them since January 2024.

One of the accused, who works in a factory, is married and has a child, according to the complaint filed by the victim’s father. Pawan Kumar, ACP-1, Greater Noida, said a complaint was filed against the two men at Beta 2 police station under Sections 376 (rape), 384 (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code and corresponding sections of the POCSO Act, the Times of India reported.

An investigation revealed that the men had lured the girls with the promise of marriage. When they demanded money, the girls stole it from their grandfather’s locker.

“Last week, when their grandfather checked his locker, he found that Rs 10 lakh was missing. The girls later admitted to giving it to the two men,” a senior officer said. The accused were produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody on Monday.
